Register to Vote

Anybody wishes to vote in the next Municipality Elections have the opportunity to make sure that they are registered.
This can be done during the weekend of 5 and 6 March 2016 when all voting stations will be opened for registrations between 08h00 – 17h00.
Alternatively, registered voters could confirm their registration on the website www.elections.org.za or sms your identification number to 32810 – the sms will cost R1-00.
If you have moved residence in the past two years, you should also have to confirm your registration.

Boekverkoping by Lyttelton Biblioteek groot sukses

Die Lyttelton Biblioteek hou jaarliks ‘n boeke uitverkoping en die verkoping aan die einde van November 2015 was weer ‘n groot sukses.
Lede van die gemeenskap het gul van hierdie geleentheid gebruik gemaak om gunsteling boeke teen bekostigbare pryse aan te koop.
Oortollige boeke wat nie verkoop is nie, word aan liefdadigheidsorganisasies geskenk om aan inwoners van die inrigtings ook die geleentheid te bied om te kan lees.

National Assembly Speaker received International Award

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Baleka Mbete, has been elected as the 2016 recipient of The Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Award for International Service.
She received this prestigious honour in Washington DC in the United State.
The King Legacy awards are held annually in tribute of the legacy of Dr Martin Luther King, the late American civil rights giant, and to share his historical work in the United States and on the international stage.

A double first in SA Healthcare

Chantelle Gouws, 29-year old from Springs, became the first person and first woman in South Africa to undergo a partial nephrectomy using da Vinci robotic-assisted technology.
The organ-preserving excision of a cancerous tumour from her kidney was done in Midrand, Johannesburg.
Her tumour was diagnosed after an ovarian cyst burst while she was at work and with an ultrasound examination the golf ball-sized mass in her right kidney was discovered.
Her surgeon, urologist Dr Marius Conradie, said doing a partial nephrectomy was an extremely intricate and exacting procedure.

Lucky day for Peter Mashegoane from Centurion
