Nominasies vir Centurion Vrywillige Werker van die Jaar 2014 ingewag

ATKV Centurion wys reeds verskeie jare al namens die inwoners ‘n Centurion Vrywillige Werker van die Jaar aan.
Inwoners word uitgenooi om iemand in een van die kategorieë: Gemeenskapsbeveiliging; Jeugwerk; Kultuurbevordering; Sportbevordering en Welsynswerk te nomineer.
Die belangrikste voorvereiste vir ‘n toekenning is dat die genomineerde in Centurion moet woon en vrywillige werk in Centurion gedoen het en GEEN vergoeding of betaling vir sy/haar vrywillige werk ontvang nie.
‘n CV wat slegs die tersaaklike inligting en bewyse van sy/haar vrywillige werk in Centurion gedurende 2014 bevat, moet by die nominasie aangeheg word.

Talented artist dreams big

You have probably seen him sitting painting on the street corner in Doringkloof or in the garden of a restaurant in Lyttelton.
Phanuel Souza is originally from Zimbabwe where he studied at an art school during 1996 – 1998. He is married and his wife and three children are still residing in Zimbabwe.

Kospakkies vir behoeftige bejaardes

Centurion Raad vir Bejaardes (CRB) het op 27 Augustus 2014‘n ruim donasie van nie-bederfbare kospakkies van FNB se vrywilligers ontvang.
By dié geleentheid het Adrie van Aardt, verhoudingsbestuurder: FNB, gesê dat behoeftige bejaardes in die gemeenskap vertoon vir hulle baie weerloos en is dit daarom vir FNB ‘n voorreg om deur middel van die kospakkies, hulle nood te probeer verlig.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Health Awareness Month and women all over the world are looking at ways to detect breast cancer early and optimise treatment.
Apart from non-melanoma skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women of all races, with a lifetime risk of 1 in 35 in South Africa, according to the 2007 National Cancer Registry.
All women are encouraged to conduct regular self-examinations once a month and should start regular mammograms from the age of 40.
